Sweet Basil oil essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the herbs (whole plant) of the ocimum basilicum. Sweet Basil oil is credited with the ability to give the mind strength and clarity and as such is regarded as a useful study aid. The European basil oils are considered to have less dramatic effects than their exotic cousins.
